Recruitment process
Applying for a role with us couldn’t be easier. We have provided some key information below to help you with your application, what to expect from our recruitment process and top tips for a good interview. If at any time you have a question, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
1 Application
Our job adverts may only give you a brief overview of the vacancy, so we recommend that you read the attached Job Profile thoroughly. If you would like any additional information about the position, contact the Recruiting Manager by using the contact details provided in the advert.
The application form you are asked to complete will ask you to provide information about your education and qualifications, including your employment history and your personal information.
The most important part of the application is where you tell us why you are the right person for the role. Here you can tell us your reasons for applying and take the opportunity to highlight your particular strengths, motivations and relevant experiences. A top tip is to use the criteria within the Person Specification as headings, and provide examples of how you meet these underneath.
2 Shortlisting
This is the process we go through once the vacancy closes – our Recruiting Manager will review each application and decide who are the best matches against the Person Specification to invite to interview.
Please note that whilst we do our best to get back to everyone, if you have not heard from us within four weeks of the application closing date, this means that you have not been successful. If you would like any feedback on your application please contact the Recruiting Manager.
If you have been successful you will be contacted by the Recruiting Manager with a date, time and location for your interview. The invitation will also outline the ID documents that you are required to bring to your interview. Please note that we will not be able to interview you unless you bring these as it is essential that we have proof of your identity.
3 Interview
We understand that interviews can be daunting for some people, but the better prepared you are, the more confident you will feel on the day. Our top tips for a successful interview are:
Research: Make sure you are familiar with the job role, the department, the organisation, and our values.
Anticipate the questions: The advert, job description, and person specification will give you a lot of clues to the interview questions we’ll be using.
Consider your appearance: The way you present yourself at an interview is important, so please arrive in smart attire.
Plan your journey: Aim to arrive early, check where your interview is being held and have the contact details on you in case you’re delayed.
We use structured interviews where the questions are designed to allow you to demonstrate your skills and abilities in-line with the job role. We will be looking for you to provide examples of how you have demonstrated particular skills and behaviours in the past. Try to keep your answers structured and concise, but don’t be so brief in your answers that the interviewer has to prompt you for further information. And remember to relax!
4 Offer of Employment
Congratulations! If you’ve got this far then it means we’re offering you the position. One of our Recruiting Managers will be in touch to let you know the good news, and once you have accepted the position, your application details will be sent to our Resourcing Team.
They will then be in touch with you, asking you to fill in any gaps from your application form – your offer of employment with us will be subject to whether you can provide us with satisfactory references, health clearance and DBS. We will also undertake identity and eligibility to work checks and are required to see a full employment history.
After we have signed-off all of your pre-employment checks, you will be ready to arrange a start date with us. This will be arranged with your Recruiting Manager and the Resourcing Team.
Once you have agreed a start date, we will send you a Contract of Employment, which outlines all of the terms and conditions of your employment with us. This will need to be signed and returned to us before you start working. Detailed arrangements for your working hours, including patterns of shifts, will be confirmed by your manager.
