A person we support in one of our learning disability residential services is looking for a volunteer to read and chat with. The person has learning disabilities and is both non-verbal and non-tactile.
Can you help?
We are looking for someone who is friendly, confident, sociable, and imaginative. As they are non-tactile, we are looking for someone who could sit next to but not too close to her. Ideally this would be a weekly volunteer role, or as often as volunteers are able to commit.
We can cover travel and some activity expenses. This is a role based in the service where this person lives.
For all our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and we will request two references. All volunteers can attend an in-person volunteer induction and we offer online training alongside this. You will be supported by both the volunteer team and a member of staff in the service too.
