Activity Buddy – Fishponds
Fishponds
Voluntary
A person we support in one of our learning disability residential services in Fishponds is looking for a volunteer to support them to access the community and to participate in fun activities. These activities could include going to town, train journeys, trips to the beach and the farm and watching rugby games in person. He also is very sociable!
Can you help?
We are looking for someone who is friendly, confident, outgoing and a good listener. Ideally this would be a weekly volunteer role. The individual is looking for someone to help them get out in their community more frequently.
We can cover travel and some activity expenses. The person we support will need accompanying on public transport (bus and trains), driving is not essential.
For all our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and we will request two references. All volunteers can attend an in-person volunteer induction and we offer online training alongside this. Epilepsy awareness training is required for this role, but no administration of buccal midazolam is required. You will be supported by both the volunteer team and a member of staff in the service too. There are two members of staff on duty throughout the day that can provide support.
Please get in touch if you are interested in this role and would like to receive a volunteer application form (standard or easy read). If filling out forms aren’t for you, please give us a call and we can take down your details.
