One of our residential homes for older adults with learning disabilities is looking for volunteers to support with person centered activities in and out of the home. Based in Kingswood, the residents have a wide range of interests. The home has an Activity Coordinator who would love volunteers from the community to bring their skills, hobbies and passions into the home to support the residents to access more opportunities.
Can you help?
We are looking for a volunteer who is:
- confident spending time with the residents, getting to know them and doing activates that are person centred. As the volunteer becomes more confident within their role, we would like them to lead small activity classes for the residents for example, knitting or bible reading etc. as well as taking them out into the community.
- interested in working with people who have learning disabilities.
- Passionate about activities and has interests and hobbies to share eg knitting, gardening, painting
- patient, understanding, motivated and kind.
We can cover travel and some activity expenses.
Please note, for all of our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and references will be taken up. A risk assessment is in place for the role which we will ask the volunteer to sign before they start.
All volunteers have an online training before starting in role and are supported by both the volunteer team and a member of staff in the service too, who will provide regular supervisions.
Please get in touch if you are interested or would like further information, we would love to hear from you.
