Personal Assistants

Milestones Trust is offering a unique and exciting opportunity for you to be a part of new service development. We are looking for a team of Personal Assistants who will support young people with learning disabilities/autism and physical disabilities to settle into their new homes. The modern apartments have been purpose-built for 5 tenants in partnership with Bristol City Council, and have been equipped with smart assistive technology to enable people we support maximise their independence.

If you would like to play an integral part in the empowering abilities of young people to become more independent in personal and social aspects of life, this is a perfect time to apply!

As a Personal Assistant you will support tenants with all aspects of daily life (personal care, medication administration, accessing the community, shopping, house chores, etc.). You will also ensure they can access activities and are supported with all their interests and hobbies. This may include swimming, trips, arts and crafts, going to music and sport events, etc. You will encourage and enable individuals to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, signposting where appropriate, and to develop a positive self-image and maintaining good health. Developing relationships and maintaining contact with family and friends is also part of the role.

We are looking for people who will work well in a team, but are also able to work on their own.

We offer a variety of shifts, including weekends:

• Earlies (07:00-14:00)
• Lates (14:00-21:00)
• Long days (07:00-21:00)
• Waking nights (21:00-07:00)

The successful candidate will:

• Have the ability to lead a shift

• Promote people’s independence
• Be compassionate, caring and patient
• Always be willing to take part in activities
• A competent driver is an advantage
